Vick Gets The Nod, Favre Gets Two Thumbs Down

Alright Andy Reid its about time you get your head out of you a**.  Michael Vick has shown that he should be the starter of the Eagles, and its a joke that it took this long for Philly ta realize this.  Kolb may be good in a year or two but right now its about winning football games.  Therefore you want the guy that is going to give you the best chance to win, that's Vick.  Vick has shown that he can be a premier QB after throwing some impressive passes last week.  Well enough about Vick it does not really surprise me, what does surprise me is how the infamous Brett Favre has fallen apart.  This year Brett Favre has done absolutely nothing for his team.  I understand that there has been some injury on the wide receiving core but that's not the problem.  I think football lovers everywhere have witnessed the fall of Favre.  He is no spring chicken anymore and age has caught up to him.  After getting demolished in the NFC Championship game last year and needing ankle surgery, it took to much out of him.  When they show Brett on the sidelines he doesn't seem to have that same love for the game that he used to.  Its going to be a real test for Favre if the Vikings end up getting Vincent Jackson.  No longer can the excuse be made of no receiver due to injury as Jackson is one of the best in the game.  In closing watch out for Vick he is the starter but now he has a lot of pressure to perform, and for Favre you should retired and starting riding on your trator, would have been more fun for ya.  Leave your comments below.-----------Mikey C

  1. Not starting Vick would be the downfall of Reid's career. Personally i dont see anything special in Kolb now or ever. He lacks many talents that an elite QB should have. Whats wrong with starting Vick? Watching sundays game i felt like he was with the Falcons all over again. He has led the Eagles to two comebacks, well almost comebacks against the Packers. Now on to Favre. He simply doesn't have the weapons at the moment. Percy...amazing athlete but hasn't made the adjustment to being a NFL receiver. Favre and Harving lack chemistry. It seems like Favre throws one way and Percy is turning the other. Shianco is pretty damn good i must say. Favre does show flashes of his younger games but at the moment has a lot to prove. When you have AP and the O-line he has he shouldnt be struggling like he is. As a long time loyal fan of number 4 i due believe its time for him to hang it up.... I mean he is a grandpa now.

  2. My thoughts exactly he is not the Favre were all used to. Retiring last year would have been the best thing. It seems that Brett is just chasing this pipe dream of his to end is career with a superbowl win. Last year he got really close but as this two first games have shown he just doesnt have what it takes.

  3. Schetter's right on Harvin, except I believe it's more Percy's hip is just bothering that much than a chemistry thing. The biggest difference between Favre of last year and this year is expectations. Last year he came in and really no one thought he had much left, so teams would key on AP and make Favre beat them. Favre took advantage and set career numbers. This year everyone is comparing Brett to last years Brett, which is just not realistic. The fact that he is being keyed on combined with the depleted receiving corps is really taking its toll, and if you dont believe this look how AP is running this year compared to last year. Last year was a down year for AP, watch him finish top 3 this year. Most likely number 1 in yards.

  4. Glen you have opened my eyes. I never looked at it from that point of view. In saying that I half agree with you. Yes teams are looking at the Vikings being a threat in the air due to Favres performance last year. But Favre has looked a lot better and addded pressure is not the only reason. He makes one two many miscues on the field. But glen I do see where you are coming from with that comment. I guess we will have to wait and see if he can adjust early and make something of this NFL season.

  5. Glen i agree with almost everything you are saying, expect the hip statement. I dont think that harvin has developed yet. the first game Favre targeted him with three passes that i remember where harvin either ran the wrong route or read the secondary wrong. It the little things that make an incompletion. When you have only one primary target (Shianco) it makes for a tough game. The Vikings need to get AP involved in the passing game and virtually need Sidney back. I feel that adding Vincent to the equation would definitely help. Essentially it comes down to this: Brett missed to much time during training camp. He hasnt developed a healthy relationship to any of his receivers other then Shianco. You cant just add a guy like Carmarillo and expect to complete passes on a weekly basis if you do not know his tendencies. Barrian is old and washed up and who cares about greg lewis, they are just not that good. I have a hunch that by adding sidney to the equation the Vikings passing game will excel... a little bit. The blatant problem is Favres inability to make up fucking mind and get to training camp on time.

  6. Haha yes yes a_schetter you got it right but everyone knows Favre just doesnt like going to training camp. I mean he did say this year was his last year but lets not be surprised if he we see him next season ha.

  7. I agree that Favre should be at camp, and normally it does make a differences, but really would it have changed anything? I mean no excuses Favre should be there, but I can't say it would have changed anything. Percy was barely at camp at all, Rice has been gone, Camarillo was traded for right before the season, and the rest either suck or are washed up. I understand the process Schetter, but do what I am and imagine Brett at camp with Greg Lewis, Berrian, and Shaincoe. I can't honestly say it would have mattered, and Jackson wouldn't help much, by the time he learned the system Sydney will be back anyways.

  8. My main focus i guess at the moment is Harvin. With Rice out he is the go to receiver. I guess the case i am trying to plead is Percy should and has the ability to be a star and just has developed and i thing that is a result from him and brett not being at camp. Again Carmillo could be a factor but like u said he was traded before week 1 i think, hence know chemistry

  9. Percy's migraines came back today too, so hes missing more practice, the Vikes might get worse before they get better, if thats possible. Well losing to the Lions would be the lowest of lows haha.

  10. It's a rough start for Favre, but I'm not sure to write him off just yet. He always has multiple bad games in a given season and these first may just have been that. This probably will not be as good of a year as last year for Favre, but he's still a talented QB and no doubt still has the capacity to lead his team to a good if not great season. Only time will tell with Brett though. You're dead on about Mike Vick, he is all the quarterback the Eagles need.

  11. this is to Schetter's last post, i agree that Percy could be a star, the problem is that he isn't the type of player everyone wants him to be. He is a guy who is good at catching a short pass and getting a good 10-15 and sometimes breaking them open to get a TD, but as of right now he is not a guy who can get separation down field or win jump balls. Hes a great kick returner and was a great change of pace from Shiancoe and Rice, but he can't be asked to replace either one.
