Week 4 Recap

Alright its Tuesday and the blog is back.  First of all a congrats goes ta a_schetter for picking 11 out of 14 games correct.  Now where ta start on this eye opening week four.  There are six games that really need to be talked about.  The first game is the Ravens beating the unbeaten Steelers.  This comes as no surprise to me but to the football world it shows that the Steelers defense can be beat.  Now you can be skeptical and say yes Big Ben was not in the game yet, and I agree he would make the team better.  But the scary thing about the Steelers is there defense.  And this game showed that you can make good schemes and beat them.  Even if they had Ben would the Steelers be able to score more than two touchdowns?  I don't think so this match up is always a low scorer and I believe the Ravens would have won this game regardless.  My next game to talk about is the Green Bay vs Detroit match up.  The Packers for the second game this season have shown that they have a problem finishing football games.  When you are up that big you cant just coast through the rest of the game.  Future opponents are going to realize this and capitalize on it.  The Lions finally started to utilize Johnson.  They should have thrown to him even more after he showed how easy it is to just let him jump up and catch it over Green Bay's short DB's.  Green Bay got a gift playing bad football against a terrible team.  And this is the second game in a row where they haven't looked great at all.  They need to step it up from here on out if they want to make it to the playoffs.  The third game is New Orleans vs Carolina.  The Carolina Panthers are easily one of the worst teams in the NFL this year due to the lack of talent in the QB region.  The Saints had the chance to blow this game away but injuries to Thomas and Bush really hurt them.  Also turning the ball over after great drives just killed this offense.  I believe the Saints will be able to salvage this team but they have to turn it on now.  Just a year ago no one could stop this offense and this year Drew Brees just isn't producing.  If the Saints don't step it up the NFC South will be wide open.  The fourth game is St. Louis and Seattle Seahawks.  For this game I have one name to state Sam Bradford.  I thought after last week he may have just got lucky and had a great game.  But after crushing the Seahawks this QB looks like he might be the real deal.  Steven Jackson wasn't really to much of a factor but the passing game really looked great.  The Seahawks looked tough the first couple weeks but the big season opener when they beat the 49ers isn't really that big of a deal anymore.  We have seen that San Fran just isn't really that good this year.  Watch out for the Rams they might have a bounce back year.  My fifth game is Jacksonville and Indianapolis.  The Jags played a great game and beat the Superbowl runner up.  This is the second loss for the Colts now and they don't look like the unstoppable team that they were last year.  I still believe that the Colts are a great team and teams need to watch out for them,  but are they going to return to the Superbowl, I think not.  The final game I want to talk about is the New York Giants and the Chicago Bears.  Wow Chicago just WOW.  Could you have worse blitz protection.  The Giants had nine sacks in the first half and took out two QB's.  I still think the Giants are a bad team and Eli is a bad QB.  The reason they won is that the Bears are a worse team.  And the Bears were the top team in the NFC North.  Could this being saying something???  I think so this proves my point that the NFC North is not a top division like they may have been last year.  Alright now its your turn to leave your comments and opinions.  Make sure to keep clicking on the ads on the right to drive more traffic to the site, we hit a bit of a slump but that usually happens on the weekend so lets kick of this week strong and get a lot of comments and page views tell everyone you know!!!!!

  1. just a couple things, first I agree the Steelers look scary good, and I do think they would have won that game with Big Ben. I guess we will find out when they play again. Sam Bradford looks legit and may be the Rams qb of the future, remember though he is a rookie and will have plenty of struggles this year. I don't think Thomas and Bush would have made a difference in the game, the Saints have the worst running game in the NFL with Bush and Thomas so it didn't matter. The Saints are as good as Brees is and he needs to step it up and pisspound teams like he did last year. Green Bay is fine they just had a bad game, things didn't seem to click for them, not sold on this team, but this game isn't an indicator of things to come, just a bad game. Now for the Bears, I'm not surprised at all. This game is exactly what I expected to happen sooner or later. While I think the Bears have the talent, I still think that's all they have. Great talent, but this team is gonna show up some weeks and play like this on others. A team is as consistent as their qb and i've been talking about Cutler's consistency for the past week. This is the same Cutler from Denver, don't be fooled. Last off, you have a great point about the north, it's looking nothing like the dominant division people were expecting. The south might be the division to watch in the NFC, as long as the Saints start playing Saints football. We all understand they are the defending champs and are taking everyones best shots to dethrown them, so close games are understandable, but not against San Fran and Carolina. I personally don't think they are a Super Bowl team this year, but they should still contend for a top 3 spot in the NFC.

  2. I am fine with everything you said except for saying that having thomas and bush wouldnt have changed anything. They may be on the depth chart as running backs but Reggie Bush opens the offense up so much with swing passes and short outs and thomas is one of the best screen running backs in the game. Without them we couldnt run the same offense and decided to run dives and off tackles which had little success. Bush is feared by every defense out there because he is such an athlete and you never know what play he is going to be in.

  3. you have a point, I was more referencing the running game. but I do agree that while usually doesn't do much he is a guy you have to account for as a defensive coordinator. However it's not like they were playing better when these guys were healthy. The offense only got 14 on a Vikings secondary which is average at best, and had only 1 healthy corner and a San Fran team who has already given up 103 points.

  4. I hear you glen the Saints should be doing a whole lot better than what they are doing now. Drew Brees is going to have to rally his team and start making those great plays like he did last year.

  5. I have to mention the Patriots destroying Miami last night. The Patriots will always be the Patriots, but I'm appalled by their performance last night on defense and special teams against Miami. I hate the Pats with a passion still and even more after Randy Moss watched his team put up 41 without him even getting one reception. I lost to a fantasy team that I was favored to beat by 73 points because he couldn't get 5 measly points. Nevertheless, the Patriots definitely moved hearts and minds last night with their 2nd half surge over Miami. They keep this play up and they'll take it back to the Jets and win the division once again.

  6. the saints and colts really should not be worrying this early. both quarterbacks are great and the superbowl teams have hardly changed from last year. the packers shouldnt be worrying about the playoffs at this point yet either but they do need to find a productive back. there have been some trade rumors. i wouldnt mind seeing aj hawk traded for a solid running back. and the pack is easily going to win the division. the bears were so bad sunday i dont see them winning 6 more games. and favres a geriatric quarterback on a team with an iffy secondary.

  7. ya Max green bay is going to have ta talk ta the Panthers now cuz Lynch is off ta the Seahawks

  8. With only one undefeated team left (KC) and 9 teams with one loss, it shows that there really is no one team to beat in the NFL this year. Anything can happen any given Sunday.

The Detroit Lions are not a bad team. They are an 0-4 team who could easily be 4-0. They almost took down the Pack, and they did beat the Bears if not for a stupid rule.

  9. its not surprising that the packers didnt make the move. TT has traded for a started since hes been in GB, at least i dont remember any big moves. This could mean that he has a plan. He has made some pretty smart moves throughout the years, but you never know. Im guessing that he is hoping James Stark will be the guy.

Other trade rumors: Moss to Vikes? very interesting.. I didnt see that one coming. I think that would be a very good trade for the vikings depending on what they give up.

Judge i disagree with your comment "the pats will always be the pats." They are struggling. BB is worried about his defense and also his run game. I mean yeah Brady is an amazing quartback, who recently said his career isnt at the half way point yet, i do think they are approaching their downfall.

The saints and packers are ranked 2 and 3 in the power rankings... Im not sure if i agree with this. they have a lot to prove before they can claim those spots.

  10. BREAKING NEWS RANDY MOSS IS TALKING ABOUT A DEAL WITH THE VIKINGS WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. i think it would be poetic for moss.. end it where it all started. he always wanted to play with favre. as a packer fan i was always upset when we passed on him. we had multiple chances but it never worked out. i do believe but dont quote me, we offered a fourth round pick for him last year or this year, and he wanted to sign a one year deal, but TT wanted it for longer. Anyways if he does go to the vikes it would open up their offense and make them a contender once again

  12. Would not be a bad move. The Pats did just fine without him.

  13. i dont think trading for a guy like moss is ever a bad move

  14. If they are going to trade for Moss they need to do it quick and get him ready for this Sunday. The Vikings season depends a lot on their next three games, if they can take at least 2 of these games I don't see them not taking the north. But a lot depends on this Vikings/Packers game coming up too. Since the Vikes haven't played the Bears or Packers yet we don't really know how they compare to the rest of the division. We will find out a lot in that game.

  15. Moss to the Vikings would be perfect for them I just dont understand wat happened here trust me this will be tomorrows topic

    ReplyDelete
  16. its mostly because of Moss's standing with the team as well as how much the Pats like Tate, its one of those get something now or get nothing later things.

  17. I understand were u are coming from glen but i dont think that winning the next 2 of three guarantees the division. personally i dont think the vikings will beat the pack this year but we will see

    ReplyDelete
  18. agree with you schetter i didnt say it guarantees. I'm just saying since this is the toughest part of their schedule there would be no reason why they couldnt take the division if they got 2 wins here, doesnt mean they will though. And i personally cant see the Packers beating the Vikings, but I wouldn't be a true fan if I did now would i?

  19. lol you got that right. we just have a lot riding on the vikes series. we got skunked last year.... theres hard feelings

  20. honestly schetter i have a feeling it will be a split this year.
